Dine in your own covered wagon and experience life one hundred and fifty years ago. Pull up to the hitching
post then stand a moment under the shade of the 100 year old Cottonwoods that act as a time machine to yesteryear,
when it was not unusual to hear a lone wolf howl or the wagon master calling to circle the wagons. The Prairie Schooner
Restaurant is located where the Mormon pioneers settled along the Ogden river.
Jim Koertge, proprietor of this landmark, takes pride in uncompromising dedication
to personal service and serving delicious food. House specialties include aged, hand cut and
trimmed steaks, mouth-watering prime rib, fresh halibut and walleye fillet. Be sure to try the
famous au gratin potatoes, similar to the Dutch oven style dish of the pioneers.
Wagon master Jim can dish out an inexhaustible
collection of tales about the Wild West and the historical Ogden River area.
Patrons will be delighted by the ambiance inside. On entering the dining area guests are
welcomed in by the sound of old time western music, then seated in a private covered
wagon. Move back in time again by the glow of a warm campfire surrounded by an outdoor
prairie setting under the stars.
